I’m a bit surprised that I haven’t covered this car before considering that it resides just five minutes walk from my house. However, saying that, I normally only get to have a look at it when I’m walking home with Ste at the end of a night out, which usually means that it’s 4am and we’re both drunk – not an ideal time to start checking out a car!
The car in question is Ste’s Baja Beetle which certainly isn’t the kind of car to blend in with the surrounding modern cars. When was the last time you were sat in traffic behind a car with an air cooled engine hanging out the back!?
The project has been ongoing for over a year now and is currently in its final stages; once a few little electrical niggles have been sorted out the car’s ready to hit the road.
I don’t really know what more to say about this car other than “just look at it!”. Regardless of the car’s specification it looks absolutely fantastic, not only because of the stunning Volkswagen factory paint (a colour that is used on their current range) but mainly just because of how outrageous it looks as a whole.
The visual and aural impact that the car makes is incredible, especially so considering that it’s older than both myself and Ste combined. The sound it makes is absolutely unreal which, coupled with the stench of leaded fuel, is certainly going to turn a few heads when it’s back on the road!
Personally I absolutely can’t wait to see the project completed – I’m calling first dibs on a passenger ride when it is!
Seeing as I’ve mentioned just how awesome this thing sounds I thought it’d be rude not to include a cheeky video!
