Today was the first proper meet of the year for myself: MCR-VTEC XX held at the West One retail park in Eccles, Manchester.
The MCR-VTEC meets aren’t like every other car park based meet. Throughout the afternoon the organisers hand out directions and maps that lead the attendees through some of the best country roads in the area, kind of like a mini Gumball Rally. The only difference being that, instead of the final destination being a private party held at a glamorous nightclub, everyone meets up at a pub!
The turnout was pretty good considering it was raining pretty much all morning until just before the meet started. There was a really good variety of Hondas with everything from the older EG and EK Civics to Accord and Integra Type Rs.
The general quality of cars was very high, with my personal favourites being Smigzy’s K20 powered EG Civic and the matte black EG Civic that looked to be a proper track slag (no interior, full roll cage, various parts of the bodywork held together with cable ties etc.).
I didn’t end up going on the drive due to time restraints but the route looked like good fun!
Overall the afternoon was pretty good, especially considering the time of year and the weather. There were plenty of great cars to get pictures of and everyone had a great time, which is the most important thing.
