In some countries, such as Austria, Germany and Switzerland, it is essential that your aftermarket wheels are TÜV-approved. If your chosen aftermarket wheels are not TÜV-approved, and you live in a country that requires aftermarket wheels to be TÜV-approved, you might need to submit large amounts of paperwork and potentially incur large costs in order for them to be deemed safe to use on your vehicle by your local governing authority. In some cases, this might not even be possible at all!

To avoid this issue, it is best to choose wheels that have already been TÜV-approved. This means that the wheels are supplied with the necessary identifying markings, as well as approval certificates, to allow you to use them on your car safely and legally. The documents can be submitted to the relevant authority when the wheels are installed on your car.

If you are not sure, it is worth contacting your local governing authority and/or expert garage and asking for their advice. We can provide TÜV certificates for wheels in advance of a purchase, if required.
