First Camping Trip in our Land Cruiser Troopy
Since December last year, we've been working hard to transform our 1994 HZJ75 Toyota Land Cruiser Troop Carrier ("Troopy").
We'll share a more detailed update that covers all of the work sometime in the future but, in short, we wanted to build the car so that we could camp inside it at the weekends, but also still use it as a van for load hauling during the week.
Recently, we finally got to take the Troopy on its first camping trip since we took ownership, so there was a bit of a rush to get it ready! We took it to a tried and tested camp site in North Wales, as the views are fantastic and the facilities are always spotless. Also, should anything go wrong, we weren't too far from home!
We arrived very late on Friday (just in time to see the sun set!) as we had an extremely busy day in the office and warehouse and set off later than planned. Little did we know, this was the last bit of warm and sunny weather we'd see for a while!
Come Saturday morning and we found ourselves amidst a typical British Summer's day!
After setting up the Front Runner Easy-Out Awning (2m) and Front Runner Wind Break for 1.4m / 2m / 2.5m Awning - Side to keep us dry, we could crack on with cooking some breakfast. All of our cooking utensils and non-chilled food was stored in a selection of Front Runner Wolf Pack Pro boxes, and we used the Front Runner Expander Table as part of our setup.
We spent the wet afternoon in Caernarfon town centre before retreating back to the camp site. Thankfully, a friend was able to set up next to us, allowing us to create a large covered area for all of our friends to stay dry.
The rain finally eased up as the sun was setting...
...leaving the Front Runner Camp Kitchen Utensil Set looking very picturesque!
We retired for the night inside the Troopy on our DIY sliding bed. The Front Runner USB Camplight Light String (10M) that we'd routed around the headliner prior to the trip gave off a lovely glow, with the dimmest setting providing a lovely ambience while still being bright enough to read a book or magazine.
No trip home along the North Wales Expressway is complete without a stop at Greggs!
Going forward, we'll do our best to keep this blog updated with future camping trips and adventures that we can't wait to share with you!
